Author

While it may be a bit of a stretch to call John a full-fledged author, do not be surprised.  John has written a children’s book, which is currently under expert and peer review called ‘Francis and Rosy’.  A sample is posted on the next page.  In addition to his books he is known for his funny and insightful letters to friends and relatives.  (None of which appear on this website!)

‘Francis and Rosy’ is a middle-grade (MG) novel series which speaks to kids about being comfortable in their own skin. It tells of everyday challenges MG kids face. The story often draws on athletic and creative performance, and reveals that the skills to do both are often similar. It includes themes of participation, relationships, finding your voice and doing well while having fun. And that an important lesson in life is to simply try.  Francis and Rosy got started with the idea to speak to kids in elementary school in a way that is honest, respectful, funny and that does not preach.

Francis is the golfer, hockey player and want-to-be hairstylist spider who always seems to wear baggy shorts and a baseball hat. He lives in the wall by the window in Rosy's bedroom. As Rosy faces new challenges in her school and with her younger brother, Francis sets a surprising and unique example for Rosy.  They become unlikely friends and help each other to pursue their dreams.
