King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia
This was one of John’s favorite and more challenging projects. Working with a comprehensive team at HOK that included international specialists, John was responsible for the planning efforts for multiple buildings types for the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
John's planning efforts on this multi-million square foot campus included the Administrative Building, Library, Convention and Auditorium Buildings, Science Technology Building as well as the International School, Marine Research Building, Yacht Club and Golf Club House. This landmark project had an aggressive schedule with project start to move-in in less than 2.5 years.
John integrated information with dozens of consultants, designers, and university leaders around the world. Work included facilitating expert panels to uncover and demonstrate the latest and best use in specialized facilities. The project is LEED platinum. John was never busier and he loved every moment.
