Query

I am seeking representation for my 38,000 word middle-grade novel, Francis and Rosy: Over-the-Pole! I submit this as part of your February Special Submission. In addition, Ronnie Herman had suggested I contact you.

As a kid life can come at you fast. It’s even tougher when you are afraid to try new things. You want to do more - you just get stuck.

Rosy, a girl with a mop of red hair, is getting nervous. It’s the end of summer and school starts soon with new teachers and classes. The last visit to the family lake cabin is looming, and everyone waterskis except her. She wants to ski. And her little brother, Sam, is sure to give her a hard time about it. Ugh.

When Francis a charming spider, who lives in Rosy’s bedroom wall, shows up things begin to change. Francis lives large. He paints, meditates, plays golf and wants to be a hairstylist to the Hollywood stars. He just needs some practice with real hair.

Together they help each other find exactly what they need. With Francis’ encouragement, Rosy waterskis; and on the first day of school she awakens to find her moppy hair silky and stylish. With her newfound confidence, she’s considering tryouts for the school play and is excited that her new secret friend will be there to try for a bigger world. It’s all so over-the-pole!

Thank you for your time and consideration. More is written about their adventures as the school year unfolds.
